Foodbank

Emergency food for local families

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry.

That’s why Foodbank provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Since 2010, 7000 local people have been fed, 3000 of whom were children. 100 Christmas hampers were distributed this year.  The Foodbank central store supplies food parcels to three distribution points across the town.

An exciting new development is the Eat Well Spend Less free six-session course teaching people cookery skills and household budgeting tips to help make tight budgets stretch further. Typically, we look at the basics of cookery, budgeting, hygiene and nutrition.

In the last 12 months Farnham Foodbank has received 600 referrals from GPs, Children’s Centres and other bodies (up 20% in the last 12 months) that equates to 1800 people being fed- of whom nearly half were children.
